Default Most important wrench for the C5

Hi there,

Just a lowly C4 owner coming before you to ask what might be the most useful wrench for the C5.

I want to buy a nice flex-wrench for a C5 owner for Christmas. Being that I've spent over $1,000 in repairs for my C4 this year, I can afford only one wrench for my friend.

So which size should I buy?

I used to have the greatest wench. Real flexible, could get into any position, always ready to do any job,...
Oh, "wrench" nevermind.

So where did you leave that "wrench" ? Maybe some of us would like to use the "wrench" on our nuts.

19 mm deep socket for the wheels.

15mm ratchet, and 16 and 18mm open ended for changing brake pads.

Off hand, I can't remember what size is needed to change the floor mats.

Default Torxdriver.

# 15 torx screwdriver. He will need it to install the CLB and install a new shifter, and they are cheap!

the most useful wrench i have for my c4, c5, and everything else i own is a Husky 14mm/15mm (long) box end wrench. it fits every oil pan bolt of my vehicles, and the longer length gives me a little extra leverage. with this one wrench, i dont have to look for sockets, ratchets, a 14mm or 15mm wrench, or trying to remember WTF i need.

I just got the only wrench that will go in my C5, an 8 mm box wrench.
This is used for the battery connections which can come loose at the most inopportune time.

If he does any work at all on his car, especially involving the wheels, this will be really handy.

Default Thanks for the guidance

Thanks for the tips. I'll buy one or two of the tools you mentioned. Looks like I need to go to Sears anyway to see if they'll replace a Craftsman (warranted forever) socket wrench that broke apart today after 17 years of use. - Eric
