"Column Lock Rehash"
Sorry about this one, but I only found you guys about 3 wks. ago, I know, "what' up with that?". Anyway I was sent a recall notice about a year ago, and was fixed. Is there a problem with the new one? I can't tell you how much info and enjoyment I've gotten from you all. Will be sending $$$ shortly. (2000 cpe)
Corvettes of Houston have the CLB that I installed in my 99 after having several issues & the dealer recall performed. It's well worth the money to have this issue fixed. If, however, your car is a automatic then the dealer recall is effective if performed correctly.
The dealer "fix" doesn't fix the problem. The only sure fix is to get the Column Bypass Lock. A number of Forum vendors offer these. Get it....easy intall and Forget it.
Dealer "fixed" mine. Year later, Computer tells me "pull key wait ten seconds". Mine restarted. This computer warning is your last. Column may lock at any time. Get the bypass now. Installed mine last month. Me Y2K too.
I Experienced The Dreaded Coloum Lock Today Except It Was Not On A Corvette But On My 04 Dodge Dakota. I Had A Can Of Wd 40 Squirted It In The Ignition Lock And It Cured The Problem.
My MN6 '01 had the dealer recall done twice.
I still had the dreaded column lock.
Luckily,I was able to free it. 3 days later the Corvettes of Houston CLB was in it... I have been sleeping well since then....
