[Z06] c5 vrs c6 Comparison?
Get worse. We only add to the fun. Besides someone needs to be a neutral party here.
BTW - when are you changing your AVATAR - are you still living in the past???
"Well I traded my Z06 for a C6 and couldn't be happier. To each his own I guess.
I would say that unless you plan on consistently taking your car to a road course get to C6. No need to live in the past."
Now... since you seem so insecure with your replies, have a look at where you are advising him on the C6. You are not refering to yourself, you are advising him. So quit trying to lie your way out of it...

The C5 is not manufactured anymore as you so wisely pointed out. Yes, it is outdated and a POS. Thanks for pointing this out.
Glad you have a C6 now.. Let's hope you spend more time on the C6 forums..
Outta here.....

Cm'on, Dave...just put a sunset orange C6-Z06 in your avatar and I'll let you stay here.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

Well, Patrick Swazy felt that way, and so did Charlie Sheen in 'Ferris Bueller'...you're not alone.
Aw Jeez! Glad I bought the C5! <<<phew>>>
I agree that the Corvette shouldn't stand for being cross-bred with any other car. The New Caddy is nice...but really!
Good call, VetteZ16!! Thanks for the info.
My car-buddies will groan when they hear this.

Near equal performance with a slight advantage to the C5 Z06.
1) The unpainted CHMSL housing and the unpainted door release handles were 'Tacky." - He said that they have had a significant amount of unfavorable comments about not painting these two components.
2) C5 Corvette owners were unhappy with the loss of the large rear storage compartment. - He said that they had shortened the car for Europe and that required the routing of the mufflers under the center of the Corvette, and that wasn't going to change.
3) Corvette owners were not pleased with how quiet the exhaust on the Z06 is at idle. - He said that Corvette decided to certify the exhaust system for European Driveby Sound Levels, which are more stringent that U.S. sound levels. They are looking at a change to make it sound more like a Corvette.
4) We were reading about handling stability problems on uneven pavement. - He said that the Corvette development engineers are getting a lot of 'seat time' in their work to improve the handling stability.
5) We were reading that the Goodyear 325/30ZR19 F1 Supercar EMT tires were noisy. - He said Corvette is aware of the tire noise issue and is working to improve the situation.

I have since spoken with CYA-Vett and there are no hard feelings on either side...
Peace.. out

A while back I purchased a 1963 split window coupe. Call it living in the past if you want, but to me it was closer to 'died and gone to heaven'. Each generation was hard to accept at first, but eventually was accepted. The same is not happening with the C6 for me and it won't until the appeal of a European sports car is greater than that of a Corvette. Maybe the C7 will revert more to a Corvette, but until then I will drive a pure Corvette and not a compromise to appeal to the Europeans.
That's more than you wanted to know, so I will answer your question now. The C6 is a great car. If I were going to drive a Vette every day, I would get it over the C5 ZO6, just because of the additional creature comforts. But, for track or spirited road driving, the ZO6 is, IMO, a bit crisper in it's handling, and its whole personality is just a little extreme. The sound of the exhaust on a stock ZO6 is, to my ear almost perfect for a car in which you are going to spend much time without earplugs. The Z51 C6 is just a little over-civilized (for a second car that is a fun car). And, just my opinion, but they went too far with the darn gadgetry. I could hardly get out of the thing without the horn blowing to warn me of some social grace I had omitted. I like things simple. The ZO6 might not be simple, but it hides a lot of complex stuff under a pretty simple operating system.
I should recognize the warts too. Yes, the seats are very poor, and the interior is dated and features a lot of cheap plastic. But put it on the right kind of road or track, where the suspension and motor can have their way, and who cares? You have to spend almost twice as much to find even close performance and better materials, fit and finish. I drove two used 911 Carreras in making my decision. They are very nice, but for me, the ZO6 is more fun, and I'm too old to learn rear engine handling dynamics. So, it depends on your need. Driving a ZO6 everyday in city traffic is a waste of machinery, and driving it cross country would not be my favorite vacation. But two hours in the country, or on a track, and life doesn't get much better.

True aficionados know that there has not been a real American performance car since the Corvair!
