Default Autocross tires

Ok I got an extra set of stock wheels. Now I need tire for aytocrossing.
Nitto No-1 has a tire for front in same size as stock. For rear they have a 275/35-18. Whats different between a 40 series and a 35.

I'm open to suggestions.

35 or 40 in this case is the aspect ratio, or sidewall height of the tire. The lower the number, the shorter the sidewall. Go to www.tirerack.com and look at their specs page, and you'll see the differend in overall diameter.

I used Nitto 555 RII on Z06 wheels. Very impressed with them. Although these are the only soft compound tires I have tried, so I can't tell you if they're better than others.

You should post in the autox section for the most answers.

Kumho 710s are the preferred autox tire followed by Hoosier A3S05s, but Hoosier is coming out with a new tire soon which may change the preferences. They're too soft to run on the road so you'll have to find a way to get them to the track.

If you need to drive on them to the event then the Kumho MXs may be the way to go. Or the Goodyear GSD3s for the non-Zo6 C5s are pretty good.

Good luck.
