You know those boring back-up lamps that we have. ( Can't believe that GM used the same back-up lamp lenses for the SSR ) Well, I got tired of the white/cream light that comes out when you back-up, so I bought some blue plastic bulb covers from Meijers a couple of years back(no pics). But then I got hold of #2057 Silverstars bulb from ebay for $9 shipped but have the amber illumination, I thought that it would look bad but after I installed them, IMHO they look good. Here are a couple of pics. Positive or Negative feedbacks welcome.
You know I never thought about it, because I can barely see any light anyway because of the seat orientation, call me naive or bias but yes there is considerable lighting, I can actually see the amber illumination as opposed to the white light!

Just a thought
As far as I know this is the least noticed among car lamps. I know that LEO's or States or cities are big on the red, white and blue illumination when it comes to the turn signals, that's why if you're going with clear lenses - some people make sure that the bulb illumination is still amber. But as far as back-up lamps go. I don't know of anybody that has gotten a citation or a ticket yet. I actually have green illumination on my Durango and Cool bright blue on my CRV. So if I put all my cars together in a row and back up at the same time. I'm right on time with christmas.
