I've never seen or heard of this mod and maybe there's a reason. Is there room inside the drivers side door to put an umbrella? Similar to the Volkswagen Passat or Maybach. I've never taken the door panel off so I'm relying on your expertise. I imagine installation would be just like installing Z06 rear brake ducts but I would have to custom fab the actual insert.
My coupe is my daily driver....and I unfortunatly live in GA. So I get plenty of use out of the umbrella. This would be a lot better than throwing an umbrella behind the passengers seat.
I have no idea if an umbrella would fit in the door. But if it did, to get to the umbella you would have to open the door and get out in the rain to get it out of the door. Seems it would be easier to get one of those fold ups that collapse down to about 8 inches and put it into the glove box.

A lot of the bulk in the door is just the panel. Within the door, the sub/speaker/amp takes up plenty of room in the front of the door, there's a control module under the door/window buttons, and behind the reflector there's the window adjustment screws.....these are just a few of the things you'll have to work around.
I keep my folding umbrella behind the passenger seat , next to the tunnell , standing up straight. All I have to do is lift the seat forward and grab it.

Maybe a cubby for the Grey Poupon too?

Thanks for the one helpful post.
My vette IS my rainy day vehicle. I know this kills many of you to think of. I just got back from dinner with the Peach State Posse and we had 20 vettes show up in the rain and hail. My other vehicle is a Suzuki GSX-R750.
i thought of your idea a while back too, it would be interesting and "neat" but thats about it. It seems like a lot of work for a little convience...but i guess if youve got the time to kill
all i can say is take pics if u do decide to do it!
A few years ago someone posted pics of a cargo net they installed. I liked it enough to do it myself, and it's perfect for an umbrella. Click here to see a pic of mine (the umbrella on the floor went into the net right after the pic was taken).
The net itself is made for a Honda S2000. If you look at this site you'd need one of #8, four of #13, and a few screws from your favorite hardware store to install it.
