Default Column lock question

I bought an '02 about a month ago and have read all I can find on the column lock problem. Since mine is a MN6, I decided to get with the program and install the CLB. But as I was checking it out prior to buying the CLB, I noticed that the column does not lock! Does this mean the CLB has already been installed? I thought the recall only disabled the lock on A4's, not MN6's. Any ideas on this would be appreciated.

It sounds like you are good to go. The recall does not disable the lock, it simply shuts down the gas above 2 mph to prevent driving away with a locked column. If you can move your wheel with the car off and the key out, you either have a CLB or the previous owner knew someone at a dealer and had the A4 fix installed.

I would guess that the previous owner already put one in. Use this link if you'd like to check. http://www.ls1howto.com/index.php?ar...f4a2979a77ef4c
I wonder what other mods might be lurking in your ride? Cam? NO2?

w/ #2 & #3 posts above. It appears the CLB was already installed in your car.

When you turn your key on, do you hear the lock at all? If not, chances are that the CLB is in there doing its thing.

I thought it only affected pre-2000 models?

May just want to check and see if the CLB has already been installed - easy to do and should take only about 15 minutes. If you can move the wheel from stop to stop with the ignition off, something had to be done.
