Installed a set of KOOKS Headers with high flo cats and x-pipe on my 2001 zo6.They threw no codes.Car runs excellent.Had a friend who builds race cars go for a ride, also let him drive.I asked him about if he thought the car was running rich.He put the car in 6th gear at about 1000 rpm, running roughly 20 miles per hour. and floored it.Said if car was rich it would have tried to die it did not hesitate..Is he correct. Also would it be worth the cost for a dyno tune.would i see much improvement in HP.

The car will run rich after the header install, so your friend is correct. You will see a big gain plus in mid range torque. Take it in for a dyno tune, you won't regret it. Your A/F ratio is probably like 12.5:1. Get it leaned out some and make the most of those headers! You should be in the 13.1:1 range A/F.
i gained 25 hp in the midrange from a tune a few weeks back-with my mods-not headers....375 rwhp and 362 tq in my 01-i am very happy from the tune and i think the $$ was well worth it..

I had borla shortie headers initially, before I installed my Kooks. I gained 25rwhp and 31lb./ft rwt. That's from shortie headers, not even the stock C.I. manifolds. I also have the Kooks 3" off road system with 3" X-pipe. Borla dual outlet stingers out the back. That works out to 30hp at the flywheel and 36 lb/ft. of torque.
