Traction control stops wheelspin on launch
Active handling senses the directional movement of the car relative to the direction of the sterring wheel and adjusts by cutting the throttle and intitiating the abs system on the approriate wheel to correct the direction of movement.
Traction Control cuts engine power when the rear wheels lose traction during acceleration. It senses this by monitoring/comparing the difference in front/rear wheel speeds.
Traction Control was standard on all C5's.
Active Handling applies individual brakes as needed, and/or cuts power when the car begins to slide/skid sideways to attempt to straighten the car out.
It senses this by comparing all 4 wheel speeds, yaw rate, plus steering input sensor.
Active handling was an option on C5's starting in 1998, and became standard on 2001 and later models.
