I'm debating whether or not to re-chrome my wagon wheels. They have some peeling so they need some work. Anyone have an idea of how much this will cost? Perhaps it may be worth it to purchase a set of 4 new from Tomzzzz or another vendor instead.
Also, anyone know of any good re-chroming shops in the Toronto, Ontario area?
I don't think the aftermarket ones will peel so I'd go with them. I'm in the same situation but mine are not peeling too bad. I almost bought some custom wheels but outside the forum here I find that most people like the wagons over any other wheel. I get more compliments on my wheels
You can also call us or post your postal code and we can see what we can do on shipping to Canada. I have a 1998 Coupe and the change from the wagon wheels to a chrome Z06 was a huge improvement. If you would like to call the number is 1-254-939-1030.

Went to lunch with a woman the other day and there was a red coupe like my 98' parked beside the road. He had chrome Z06 wheels which looked very nice. She made the comment that my wheels (wagon) looked much better. I know what the popular opinion is here but this is not the first woman who has told me this... hmmm... these women might save me some big bucks I believe the replacement wagons are less expensive than any other are they not?
Get new ones. Too much hassle getting the old ones redone, especially re chroming, it would also probably take a few weeks to get them done. Also, there are a lot of good choices when you order new ones.
Getting them powder coated or painted might be an alternative, definintely cheaper.

Nowadays with all the competition on the Z06 wheels they are the best deal around at 599 a set for wheels, caps, and chrome lugs plus shipping.
I still think the wagon wheels are the best OEM vette wheels the C5 has seen (after they have been chromed of course). If you are patient you will probably be able to find a set in near mint condition on here for around $350 - $400.

I get a ton of compliments on the chrome wagons, too. They offer a very high bling factor in bright sunlight when they are cleaned up and spit polished! My wife still loves them - and I like them. I don't love 'em though.
I recently ordered a set of iForged Equips (2 piece) that I'm going to install. Frankly - I'm a little tired of the wagons, and I want a fresh new look for my car. At the risk of offended a large number of folks here (and I don't mean to - I swear!) I am not a big fan of the Z06 chrome replica wheels. But you know the old story - "opinions are like noses, everyone has one and everyone else's smells!"

Unfortunately when you have rotors and brakes as nice as yours the wagons hide them... I bet the iForged Equips will look awesome on your car. Post pics when you get them on

Thanks for the compliment! :o I'm re-doing my calipers, I;m having them powdercoated and hand lettered locally, as you said the new wheels will reveal more of the caliper and I want them to look better than they do.
I will be sure to post pics when the whole makeover is complete.
The bottom line is that if you like your wagons - then you should keep them. My understanding of the process of re-chroming is limited, but I understand that it is complex and expensive. You probably would be better off with a new set of something that you really like. If you like the Z06 wheels then you should go with them.
If you get the chance to see a pic of Talon90's car (Paul) - his car has the Z06 replica wheels with a machined face and black on the inside. On his TR Coupe the look is very very nice. In fact, I'd go so far as to say one of the nicest renditions of that wheel I've seen. His car is incredibly clean and it's readily apparent that he gave a great deal of thought to how he wanted the car as a total package to look.
