97 Computer Issues?

97 Computer Issues?
I talked with a highly respected tuner today. He told me that he would not recommend putting heads/cam on my 97 since the computers on that year can’t be properly programmed for idling, etc. It this true? I never heard of such a thing. Please tell me it's not so...

I think what he meant to say was that some of the aftermarket tuning programs such as HP Tuners do not support the 1997 PCM. LS1 edit, for example does, with EFI live you have to e mail your VIN number to find out.
P.S. Better not be true, my car is in about 500 pieces right now..........

My 97' has been no issue to tune with a 417 stroker.............its all in the tuner
