Default wondering about cat removal

Is there much of a gain from removing the convertors on a C5 as long as I have the O2 sims?

YES!

I think if your car was totally stock and you had the cats cut off and pipes welded in place you would trap 3-4 mph more in the 1/4

Depends on other mods, but figure 3-5hp on most cars. Weight savings too.

No way I say double your estimate 10rwhp and that's just when totally stock
You'll gain more hp if you had other mods and then removed the cats if that makes sense

Post proof of 10RWHP gains, I have not heard that high an estimate on a stock car.

Usually not always. The o2 sims work with MOST cars, however once in a blue moon it won't work with a car. That being said 02 sims are 80 bucks. tuning software is ~400 Or take it to a tuner for even less than that for an off dyno computer flash...I had one done for 250 bucks. It's your choice, I advice the tuning software because it's so much fun to play with, and any excuse for purchasing it is well worth it.

Guys i have not seen proof of 10hp on a stock car. I removed my cats when i was still fairly stock, and i must admit it made it sound a whole lot better, but not a whole lot of SOTP. After you start doing mods, long tubes, cam's stuff like that, i'm sure removing the cats is worth at least 10hp.

I don't have any engine mods done. I have a Blk wing cold air, ported TB, superchips, smooth coupler, MSD wires, and straight pipes with a Magnaflow x-pipe. With my mods would it be worth removing the cats?

It's all up to you. The sound is more of really what i was after, I replaced my Cats with an X-pipe, really gave my Borlas a new sound. You may gain a few ponies, but i think with a few bolt ons you should do it for the louder exhaust.

Let me re-iterate those deletes work probably 99% of the time, i had one fail <i probably burned it> and i know of one other forum member they didnt'work on his car. And we're going to have to delete his o2 codes.
