The thing that blows my mind is the fact that whoever did the bumping was apparently so unaware of (or unconcerned about) what they just did that they never even bothered to back up a few inches...

I can. I've lost count of how many C5's I've seen with the front air dam crushed on the parking stop block. For some people it's just a means to get from point A to point B.
Whoevers fault it is is unknown at this point. What is known is that it is a painful sight to look at either way and I hope it never happens to me, because if it does and I was the first in, I will definitely be sitting in the car waiting for the other person when they come out to settle up for the damages.

Very true... I am making an assumption. But the vette was very clean and it had that "cared for aura" about it. And your all right -- it was parked over the line.
And this is exactly the reason I don't let my wife drive my car.
Just because we own Vette's does not make us GOD's of some sort. Who ever "bumped" the other car should have been more careful. However, the Vette driver is clearly in the other car's parking space. Maybe the other car is just as important to it's owner as the Vette is to it's owner. Your post is
I love my car, but I'd be a fool to think the rest of the world is going to adjust it's driving/parking habits because I have a nice car. Hell, all of my cars have been nice/immaculately maintained (300M, Explorer, IROC, Trans Am). At any given time I thought that my car of the moment was something special - and to me it was. But to the rest of the world it was a 4 door grocery getter (in reality it was a 300M with an 80hp nitrous shot).
Alan - you sound like the kind of guy I'd like to have a beer with.

The bump might have been so slight that whichever driver did it didn't notice. I mean, it was probably nothing more than a very light bumper kiss. Maybe that's why whichever one did it didn't back up, because he or she didn't know it happened.
Just because we drive vettes does not mean that we are always RIGHT and the VETTE is always correct in all aspects. In this pic the vette driver is WRONG, yes read it WRONG! It is not relevent who is there first, the vettre is over the line, therefore the vette suffers the consequence of not being carfull. The bashing of the Honda and/or driver is an elitiest attitude that makes non-vette owners think and say bad things about us and our cars.

So when I park my 4wd king cab truck that will not fit in most spaces (either length or width) that means the other drivers have a right to bang into me ? I always park over the line, but try to keep it out of the aisle. Of course, it has steel bumpers.

i dont know who did the bumping but i know alot of drivers are completely unaware of hitting things. i work for the phone company and was on a 28' ladder(which is bright yellow) and some stupid lady walked right by it, got in her car and backed up into it sliding the bottom about a foot over. i was on the top of it screaming at her and still got no response. if someone is dumb enough to slide a ladder 1' over with someone screaming at them and not even realize it, then i think someone can tap a bumper without knowing too.
