The other night was at a party, and someone asked me if I drive my car in winter below freezing. I said when their is no salt on roads yes. He said don't you have to be concerned about fiberglass cracking. I wonder if this ever has to be a concern, and if so below what temp I really never gave it much thought. Any fiberglass experts out their with answer.
why is everyone so concerned about the salt on the roads? Arent our cars underside just as good as any other cars driving in salt? I mean just wash the underside once in a while.

C5's are not made of fiberglass. It is a plastic material. It will not crack in the cold. I have never heard if it being a problem with the older fiberglass Vettes either. I had two and drove them in the cold many times.
It's made of SMC, there's a large number of articles about it on the Internet.
As to the car cracking in the winter. Leaving aside the fact that your car has a section on winter driving, instructions about maintaining the antifreeze, they tested the car in the winter and so on, perhaps your friend was winding you up or something. I mean, are there really people who think that in the year 2005 we are making cars that crack in the cold. Really?
