Anyone use them and if so, which ones? Do they make a difference?
Are you kidding? K&N your talking the base mod, for all performance
racing. Every car at Indy has one. And most corvettes First thing I do is at least a
K&N type filter.
cut out the air box lid and installed a k & N, its the same one used in late model camaro SS's..exact fit...i got additional hp with um and the air bridge and coupler...
I've got the FIPK and the performance gain was noticeable and sound is good at WOT. It even idles smoother IMO. I use the K&N oil filters, too. I like the 1" nut on the very bottom, super easy to get it off!

I have used K&N filters on all my performance cars and have always had noticeably positive results with them. I have one in my Z06 and have modified the stock air box to increase the air flow. It seems to work pretty well. The only reason not to use a K&N filter is if you are installing one of the other popular intakes such as the Vararam or Halltech.

I use the k&n on all the vehicles that i have owned
I run a BPP Vortex rammer w/ a K&N "style" filter (gauze/mesh design) and a K&N oil filter b/c I change my oil when the DIC says so or before a HPDE event. On my cobra I ran a K&N too.
I generally wash and re-oil my filter w/ every other oil change so 10-12k there abouts.
This past weekend I was in Long Beach, CA at a powersports show for work and spoke with the K&N rep... he told me I was over-cleaning the filter and you don't really have to do it until dirt is caking on the wire mesh. He said off-road use obviously needs more cleaninga dn most run a mesh sleeve over the filters anyway. He said many customers almost never clean them. If you look in the box I think it says it's 50,000 mile cleaning intervals, but of course it depends on the area you drive.

The reccomendation is every 50k under normal conditions. If you live in an area where you might pick up a lot of dirt than you base it on filter condition. You also have to be judicious when reoiling the filter or you can create problems by getting oil into the MAF which causes it to produce out put errors and negatively affects the cars performance. If you follow the instructions on the cleaning kit you should be just fine.

Waste of money and time on a Z06 (and actually any car). (400 + 3 (if lucky)) / 3100 (approx) = 400 / 3100 for all practical purposes. And, one runs the chance of fouling the MAF if you don't throw the K&N away when dirty--which is what I would do if I used one.

You like to run fast, with your paper filter ,Whats the Math equation My car dyno'd maybe 345rwhp stock with the paper
filter, now have about 370+rwhp (have a dynosheetw/366.9rwhp)
Stock with tune and Halltech which is a big K&N filter
Unless your a bone head (and it sounds like you are)
unless your really over oil heavy, the K&N filter, will not hurt your MAF
I have 400k plus miles on them with about 10 vehicles and no problems.
Clean and reuse cheap hp over the paper.
Never throw away they can easy be resold.
^ He's talking about horsepower per pound. A drop-in K&N in the stock housing will be of little benefit. The benefit is in changing the housing or ditching it all together with an exposed unit.

Rock'en Silver 02 there is no reason to be insulting. The cardinal rules of posting are be polite, don't flame, and respect others and their opinions. And, I have, and would continue, to throw away drop-in K&N's with alacrity if, for some reason, I decided to use one again. It is in no way worth my time and effort to sell a drop-in airfilter or to reoil one. I like bone stock including the filter, well, except the tires.
Installed one in my Veraram. Is there a diff? maybe. Just be sure when you oil it after cleaning that you blow it off with hi PSI air so no oil transfer onto the MAF.
