Finding a low mileage 2003 EB Z06 is not much of a challenge. Finding one at your price in the CA area is likely to prove to be very difficult. This is a time of year when some vette owners prefer to sell their cars rather than garage them. However that means expanding your search to places like Detroit, etc., purchasing a one way ticket, and darting due south to I-20/I-10, or possibly I-40 if you are lucky to get home. I understand the feeling that if I can only have one vette in my lifetime I want it to be my color, but I would recommend looking at different colors in your area. Given a choice of another color and having one now versus the possibility of a lengthy wait, some of the other colors may turn out to be good enough. I also suggest you ignore some of the myths you hear about black. I owned an admiral blue C4 for ten years and now have a black Z. Both get dusty and dirty quickly and I have had to dust them every few days. To use the excuse that some colors don't show the dust as much as an excuse to leave the dirt and dust on for longer periods of time is not something I favor.
You might want to broaden your search to include the other C5s. I like having the Z06, except when it is snowing outside as it is right now. However, the truth is that in every day driving there is not a great deal of difference between the C5 and the C6. When traveling I do see a difference between the C5 Z and the other C5s only occasionally when I get behind a string of traffic in the mountains. And then when I do break free it is usually at the cost of conversation with my passenger who seems to lose the power of speech for an hour or so. But if you feel you must defend your manhood to every ricer looking to use you for a thrill you will want the Z. Good luck.

Well I believe that you should drive what you like. Select...DON"T settle!! I wanted a Yellow 2003 Z06 only! It took a while to find but I did. I bought it in July 05 and paid 35-ish. I traded my Silver 2k auto in on it.

Both my wife and I think there is a world of difference between the two vettes. The Z06 rides better, and handles better. It was very noisey on long trips. I added Andy's Partition and it's perfect. The shift tower was too tall for me so I swapped it out for a C6 shifter which took 40 minutes and fit perfectly.

Defending manhood?? If you drive a Z06 you don't HAVE to defend anything! You have arrived! I only show my power when the spirit moves me and simply smile at the "ricers" that have to bolster theirs!

Best luck in your search! I agree with ZOEZOE, you'll probably need to find a coupla grand more. Oh! and when you get it! DriveIt baby!

Merry Christmas,

I'm in CA, have an 03 EB with 10k miles, but seriously, if someone offered me $41.5k I wouldn't sell my car. I paid $37k at the begining of this year, & I suppose prices have come down a little since then, but not that much . Good luck with your search .

No way are you going to find a low mileage 2003 Z06 for 31.5k.

Dogs in arizona bring more than that.

Merry Christmas,
Don't settle and drive what you like is interesting advice. I think the point most are trying to make is that for $31K he won't be driving what he likes for a while and maybe a long while in California. I'm glad you found a car at your price, but my preference is to be driving a Z rather than sitting around with my thumb up my rear waiting for the price to come down. Meanwhile, those who are taking your advice, and driving it baby (which I heartily endorse), are driving higher mileage cars every time they do. I think many would agree that you can name your ugliest color and that color in a Z is better than no Z at all. But if someone wants a special color and is willing to wait, more power to them.

I understand don't settle, but I think you should consider another color. I fell in love with an EB 2002 Z when I saw it in the showroom. I sold my 1970 Trans Am in October of 04 (for great money) and started looking for a car. Never found the right EB car at the right price. Started bidding on black ones on eBay. In January 05 I bought a black 03 Z with 7500 miles, two sets of wheels - stock and chrome motorsports, vararam, hurst shifter, lowered, Borla (with the stock too) tinted windows etc... for $35k. Am I sorry I bought a black car - NO WAY. Black is beautifull. I love the car. When I see an EB car I like the look of it, but I'm thrilled with the car I'm driving. For Christmas it's getting blacked out lights all around, and one of Crazy Cowboy's insulation kits.
It's the best thing I've ever owned...

It all boils down to a pretty big investment for most of us. Do what makes you happy. If you bought a black car and always wished it was EB, you wouldn't be happy. If you're not sure, start looking other ways.

Just another opinion...

I just bought an 02 EB Z06 this weekend for 31k. It had 12k miles on the clock with 4 year preium extended warranty, chrome rims, B&B Exhaust, vortex intake, plus all the interior extras(mats, partition, etc). Paint condition was not excellent but at that price I'll repaint it:P Had to buy a 1 one ticket and fly to kentucky to drive it home.

I hope the purchase works out for you, but I would be concerned with what happened to the paint. I owned a C4 for ten years and put 153K miles on it. It picked up occasionally chips up front, but the car was covered every day at work and waxed every three months. I won't say the overall paint condition was like new, but I routinely heard compliments on its appearance, inside and out. I've seen cars raced through the high weeds and grass that were old before their time, but never known of a corvette paint job to go bad without explanation. And when it was a poor factory job the warranty covered it. It sounds like the previous owner took full advantage of the mods.

I agree, unless there is something wrong with the car.

Don't settle for another color!! I wanted a EB all stock still under warranty with out red mod interior. I didn't want to pay more than $35,000. It took a year but I found one 1200 miles away that was close enough, it had chrome wheels and borla mufflers. I ended up getting it for well under $35 since prices came down in the year I was looking. It comes down to this, I passed up a few really good deals on other colors but in the end I know I would not have been as happy because it wasn't 100% what I wanted. If your heart is set on EB then get EB.

I know a guy that bought an '03 EB Z06 a year ago for $32k with 20k miles in the Detroit area. I don't think prices have gone down much in the last year, but it's possible to at least get close to the target of the original poster.
