Default Brake Caliper Question

Is there a difference between stock C5 brake calipers and 2001-2004 Z06 calipers other than color? If the only difference is color I'll paint or powdercoat my stock ones but if there is a performance difference, it might be worth the upgrade.

Thanks for any help

Hi DKHIGHPERF -

Only the color and the brake pads are different.

I painted the ones on my 99 coupe -

For that much, you could buy a pair of C6 front calipers from fred beans ($206) and have the entire set plus brackets powdercoated by me, or any local powdercoater to you. The C6 calipers use the same pads and bolt right on. They just have a larger 'corvette' logo on them and don't have the top ridges. Rear C6 brakes are identical to C5 brakes.

Color is the only difference. Paint them or powdercoat them yourself and save a bundle.

I just got these back from the powder coater (not Corvette Pilot, sorry - someone local). I have ordered new Hawk HPS pads all around and I'm going to purchase the new seals, etc. and install them next week.

Corvette Pilot could do the very same thing for you.....

So, there's no problems using C6 calipers on a C5? (When I went to C5-Z06 calipers, I was surprised to find that the price was cheaper (Fred Beans ) than the grey stockers.

I pulled my calipers off while I was doing the Eradispeed rotor upgrade and painted them with Foliatec 2-part epoxy paint. Foliatec and it's epoxy-based competitors are extremely durable and hard when dry. You brush it on and allow to cure for a couple of hours. Others have had good success with VHT and regular spray paints and, of course, powder-coating as well.

I purchased a set of C5-Z06 calipers from Fred Beans and put them on my 05 C6. They look great and I got a good price!
