Default slotted/CD rotors

another mod I'm doing this winter is the rotors, I am aware that slotted and crossdrilled rotors are not good for racing and this car is not raced, I'm looking at Brembo and Baer. Question is what's the main difference between 1 and 2 piece? better heat reduction? also I'm going to 18" and 19" wheels next year, should I get a bigger rotor to fill the void? suggestions welcome. Almost forgot... SS brake lines, I read somewhere on here that some of the members were having problems with them, what's the deal?

I replaced the factory disks with drilled and slotted rotors last winter. Can't help you with the advantages of single piece verse multi piece rotors. Mine are single. I also replaced the factory brake lines with braided stainless steel lines. Some members have had problems replacing brake lines (computer throwing codes) and some members have not. I didn't have any problems. Make sure you have access to a lift. The two bolts that hold the brake caliper on the wheel are torqued very high (don't remember the exact number). You'll need a breaker bar or pneumatic gun to remove the bolts. The maintenance manual recommends replacing the bolts. Also, if you go with larger diameter rotors, you'll need a larger caliper bracket.

The two piece rotors are lighter weight than the one piece. I think considerably lighter in the front. I have the baer 1 piece rotors. I always laugh when I see baer 14 inch two piece rotors in the rear of a vette with stock calipers. It looks ridiculous with so much unused firepath and such a puny caliper.

You don't need a lift. Just jack it up high enough and use jack stands. The torque for the large bolts is 125 ft lbs. No need to replace the bolts..use Loctite "red" on the threads. The rear bolts is more of a challange then the front ones. On the front you can move the wheels so you may get the bolts in a better position.
I can't recall the bolt size, but you can use a ball pine hammer to brake them loose, large brake bar, or impac gun

Bought ours with 13" rotors in front and 14" in back. We also have 18's and 19" Ronals on her.... the larger rotors do indeed fill the void but I still have the original sized bracket and pads on there in the back... It simply does not rub the entire surface of the rotor face and I have no front/rear balance issues either.

My pics don't show it well at all... I need better ones... I can try to take some tomorrow if you really want to see... PM me..

This is the first time I have posted these pictures....

At least in the last hour.!

I have two piece Baer Eradispeed rotors, 19 inch front wheels and 19 inch rear wheels...
My front rotors are 3+ years old and have 50,000 miles on them...
I could not wait for Baer to make the right design changes so I could put the larger 14 inch rear two piece rotors on my car.. I think the car looks great in this configuration... with the stock rear rotors the car looked very unbalanced...

There is a world of difference between Baer two piece and sport brake singles, but there is also a big difference in the price.

Sportsbrakes are around 300 dollars to the door,
2 Piece Baer Eradispeeds are around 1000 to the door.
They will both stop the car.

The difference between a Timex and a Rolex is around 3000 dollars
I have a Rolex. they Both tell time...

The difference between a Bugatti and a C5 is around 950,000 dollars...
I have a C5.... see I am thrifty.
The Bugatti has a 1000+ hp motor does 0 - 60 in 2.7 seconds....who needs it?
Both cars get you from point A to point B....

But.... One of them gets you there with wet shorts.
