I wanted to test out my 2002 Z06 for the first time without the traction control, so I take off the traction control and I was on 2nd gear at about 1800 rpm's and then I floored-it, what do you know I did'nt get traction for **** my car was just fish tailing and spinin em, and then I thought what would've happened if I had it in 1st gear it would be a lot worse than it already is, can anyone help with this, how can I get traction of the line, what do I need to do and what do I buy so that I can get traction??? any info will help.

traction probs for the Z..take your pick
1.tire temps cold
2., ground and air temp cold
3.if its cold and wet outside, forget traction in 1st and 2nd..
4. rear tires with more than 15k to 18k miles on um
run at least in comp mode and as said above -squeeze the throttle, mashing it is for a 6 cyl mustang when you are trying to chrip the tires
its a high powered rear wheel drive car, practice feathering the clutch out of the launch as you ease into the throttle. Practice is the only way to learn, you will find the medium between how much gas to give and how much to feather the clutch. Its not an awd car you cant just drop the clutch and mash the gas.
you wouldn't want a car whose engine couldn't overpower the rear wheels. thats why we love the z car. lots of torque and hp. learn how to use your right foot. if all else fails you can get a geo metro or maybe you could find a yugo out there and then you won't have that problem.

I can sell you a special traction agent to rub on your tires... $200 to your door. Don't taste it b/c it might be sweet, but trust me it'll work. You need to buy this.

Here is my solution. And, I assume you were using comptetition mode--leaving stability control activated. If not, then I strongly advise you to do so.
Check it out,
If the ground is cold or wet-Forget about hokking up
If on a normal day, then let the tires warm up a bit by either driving or doing a little burnout.
I personally have stuffed Pirelli Corsa 315 295 18's in the back and still occasionally experience the wigglies
Solution: Focus Daniel Son, wax on-wax off, you must learn how to drive with chop sticks before mastering the Z
Oops, silly me, I didn't mean to say hokking up U definitely don't want to chuck in your car.
Secondly, the Pirellis are 315 35 18's, 295 are of course, the factory rears. You don't have to remove anything to fit the 315's, they fit perfectly
I find my z to be traction friendly......Im currently running some 295 Toyo proxes (came on the car when I bought them).....1st gear hooks 95% when the weather is above 50.....On nitrous, 2nd gear hooks above 50 also....For a 295 tire that is nearly an "all season" I have no traction problems.....
I suggest changing your tires up to something decent and then practicing your driving
For the track I use ET streets. With them I picked up 2 mph at the track showing I was not getting traction. For the street I just take it easy. Now with the cam the car can light them up so quick the traction control cannot react in time.
Wow!, I am still dumbfounded from the post above. That was a nice C3. Anyway back to this post. Practice, Practice, Practice. Watch for air and tire temps.
