I'm looking to buy and have install the LG tong tubs on my 04 Z. Has anybody attempted to install these headers yourself. LG has a special for the complete cat back exhaust system to include H pipe and cats. I want the long tubs from what I read from you fellow Z owners who had purchased these headers also. I'm thinking of adding a Magnacharger in the near future also. I went to a muffler shop to see if they could do the LG install and he tried to sell me the BB shorties due to the pain in A?? of an install with the long tubs.
I live in Ft Walton Beach area, anybody know of a repretable shop that could help me with the install and not trash my car doing so? Any help/input would great be appreciated.
Look up Norris Motorsports via google. Mike has a good reputation and is located at 1010 Bunnell Rd.

Long Tube header install takes 5-6 hours. I also understand it is a good thing, maybe not necessary, to have the engine dyno tuned after installation. You also need to have Kevlar boots installed to protect your plug wires. Don't skimp on the Kevlar boots!
I just installed a set of LG lt's w/ cats on my 02 Z about a month ago, and I gotta say it was easier than I expected. I'm no mechanic, but find myself doing as many of my personal installs as I can to save money for the next mod, and I'll tell ya, they were by far the easiest header install I've done yet. Comparing it to the hardest being an 02 ss camaro. Most of the problems there were my fault though. I tried to save money by going w/ a cheap set of headers. Let just say I got my moneys worth. I have heard of others haveing some issues w/ the LG's not sure what they were exactly, but I don't think it was anything real crazy. I think as long as you get your car high enough in the air you should be fine. I did mine in my garage using 6 floor jacks, a crapy jack and half a tree in wood. LOL Take your time save the money and do it yourself. Well be here to help if you need it.

Thanks guys for responces, I'm going to attempt this in stall myself. I asked Anthony @ LG if would mind if I called him if I got stuck. He said that he would take my calls and assist in any way he could. I'm going with the C5 street series w/cats. Got a good price. Whats up with plug wire boots?? Do I need them If I route the wires properly? If needed what do these boots cost? Who has the best price?
I did it my self in the driveway. I used the article on ls1howto to get it done. Worked out very easy a few bolts are hard to get to with the manifolds that was the worst part.
i have the lg's,but if you are considering going to forced induction[supercharger/turbo]of bigger cubic inches you would be better off with 1-7/8 header.for naturally aspirated and stock cubic inches, you can't beat the lg's.i put mine in myself.it took 3 hours start to finish, but i had a lift.
I was wondering when/where you are gonna do this install? I'm @ Panama City Beach and would be more than willing to lend you a hand doing yours (mine are ordered) if you return the favor! Plus you car would be a great ginuea pig!! I'll PM you with my phone #
Mike, I installed my LG Pro LTs in my driveway on jackstands. It's not too hard, but busted a couple of knuckles. I got the Koolsox for the plug wires, but noticed there's lots of clearence. If I did it again I wouldn't bother with the sox.

Any tricks to get the back plug on drivers side by the brake booster? Am I going to throw any DIC codes with these headers? Do I have 4 or 2 O2 sensors on stock Zo6 exhaust? I looked and remover my fuel rail covers and that back plug looks like the only speed bump to over come.. The more I review the install instructions and look under my hood I feel more up to this challenge. Any words of interest would help and make me feel more comfortable tacklen this mod.
any 5/8 socket and 1".1-1/2" extension.yes you have 4 o2 sensors.i yanked the coils and valve covers, yanked the alternator[made life easier],yanked the battery and battery box[also made life easier],that was it.everything went right in.never removed the steering shaft, starter, etc.drivers side went in from the bottom, right side in from the top.
Can I re-use my stock manifold gaskets? Is there a diffrence between stock verse LG mamifold gaskets? I purchased a new set from LG, but don't know if they were shipped with my new LT cat back system. Did you notice any performance improvements with your long tubs? Did you use lock tite on your header bolts? What color? Will my car run like crap until I reprogram my 02 sensors. I have to drive two hours to get to my tuner.
Thanks and Merry X-Mas
I used the gaskets that came with the headers, thoughi would've prefered the metal ones, but the gm dealer i ordered from sent me the wrong ones.i used locking header bolts.i've had mine on now 2 years,no issue's.you don't need a tune, but you will get the full potential out of them with a tune.
I have my z all prepped for the LG arriving tomorrow. It was a major pain during thwe tear down. How tough is it going to be getting my header bolt back bolt driver side? It was biatch to remove! Looks like the factory used yellow locktite on all bolts, they didn't want come out by hand. How tough is it going to be to reinstall my dip stick tube? Do I route the tube through the first and second tubeand with header in place can I see the hole on the block it goes into? Any techniques? Did you have to jack your motor up to get the header to slip in from the bottom? I notice that my rear o2 senoers were crossed over. My passenger side was connected to drivers side exhaust manifold connector and The same for my drivers side rear was connected to passenger exhaust manifold. I hope I can finish this install within the next couple of days, can be very frustating at times.
Hey Mike,
I put a set of LG’s on this past summer. I didn’t have to loosen or move the motor, but I did have to drop my passengers side header down from the top with the starter off, and sneak the starter back in with the header dropped in loose, the most difficult part of the whole job. The driver’s side went up in from the bottom. Yes on the plug wire protection. I reused the factory exhaust manifold gaskets. While so much was apart I replace the plugs too.
They Sound Great with the Corsa Indy Pace Car mufflers!

Mike,
Hey brother I just got back from leave in NY and got your email and have not responded yet :o I love my LGs but I did not do the install. I am sure someone will help out as many have done it and I have seen mine off a few times and they dont look that bad. HEre is a bump and good luck with the LGs and FI
A lot of small glitches will happen during the install. You'll figure them out. The dipstick can be tricky. Make sure it seats in it's hole with a pop. It'll leak otherwise. I didn't think to remove the battery box; might have made the pass. side easier. I had to remove the coil packs on that side, and loosen the starter, but left the plugs in. My headers bottom flanges didn't line up exactly, and I had to elongate the holes. Leave all the midpipes loose before lining up your exhaust tips, because they might not be even on both sides. The O2s are reversed from stock. They criss-cross stock, and with headers go left to left..... It's really not too hard, just a little frustrating. Good luck.
Are you sure that i don't install the rear O3 sensors like the stock ie right rear pass connects to drivers right fwd harness Left rear driver side connects pass side fwd harness. This was how they were connected from the factory? This is not a flame!! I just want to be sure and not have to redo this, for it will be a major pain to reaccomplsh this step if I do it wrong!!
