For filters, I recommend UPF-44. It's the Delco Ultraguard filter. You can get them by the case (6) from either Fred Beans or Ken Fichtner, both forum vendors on the list to the left.
Greetings,
Bought my C5 a few months ago minus the owners manual (I know I can buy one, just haven't done it yet) and it is ready for an oil change. I know they require Mobil 1...now for the dumb part: how many quarts? I know it is more than the typical metal car...is it 6 or 7? sorry for the dumb question.
6.1 Litres (lol)

I always put 7L of oil in mine at oil change time, which works out to close to 7.5 quarts. I don't even lift the rear end up when draining the oil either, so there is still a little bit more oil in the bottom of my pan too.
I've seen no ill effects with this practice, my oil analysis results always show very low engine wear and the level of oil on my dipstick doesn't change at all. In fact I'm currently at just over 8000 miles on my current batch of oil and the level on the stick has not gone down at all.

In that case, you will need 7 quarts (includes filter change) to fill her up to the Max Line. I know, because I always lift the rear to drain her and when I add the recommended 6.5 qts...the level is ALWAYS half way between the ADD and MAX marks.
P.S. To really get an accurate reading on the dipstick...let your baby sit overnight and then check it first thing in the morning.
On later years the full mark is half-way. On my 1998 the full mark is the top mark. Not sure what year was transition.
It takes 6.5 quarts. If you raise the rear to drain you get another 4 ounces out of it. The low oil level message comes on at a quart low (5.5 quarts).
