I have been looking into getting an HID kit for a long time now but am still torn between what to get. The only kits I know of are from bling lights and vette hid. I have heard of mixed reviews about the bling light kits, are they worth it or not? Is the quality good or bad? How about the vette hid kits? Are they worth the extra money compared to the bling light kits? And for my final question, what other companies make HID kits for our cars and are they better then any of the ones I mentioned?
Thanks,
Andrew M
p.s Sorry for all of the questions, just like to cover all of the bases before I make my purchase.(yes, I did do a search.....I just need reassurance)
Depends what "worth it" means to you. To me, the $$$ costs and the possibility of not getting everything lined up/square after disassembly/reassembly is NOT worth it to me -- but, it may be to you.
One kit is just HID bulbs and balasts for the stock housing which was only intended for halogen bulb. Thus, putting a HID in it will make it very bright but it doesn't focus the light like a projector beam lens does; which is meant for HID.
The other is an oem housing retro-fitted with a proper HID projector beam lens, thus the light will look much much better and not blind other drivers.
I have had other kits before in my vette, and they normally had problems. They are an improvement over the stock lighting, but they do blind people. I had one that would not let the headlights close unless I tapped the brights due to the low voltage it drew. Another kit worked great, but only lasted a month then a ballast burned out. I just ordered the Vette-hid kit and am going to install it tonight. The parts definitely look quality compared to other kits I have installed. The projector lens looks really cool as well. I will have more feed back after I test that one out.

Have you installed them yet? If so, how are they? How hard or easy was the install?
Got them installed and all I can say is WOW!!! The projector lamps make so much of a difference over retrofit bulbs and stock headlights. The kit goes in easy and looks great. I did the black ones because I thought the chrome looks cheap. It definitely seems worth the money to me. Brian who is selling them on the forum is very helpful as well.
I bought the bling lights kit from Jason about 4 months ago. It works great, lights go up and down, and I have never been flashed. This is one of the best mods that I have done.
