I was headed to the golf course this morning and couldn't believe what I saw. As I was passing the local car wash (yes the ones with brushes) a red corvette was coming out the end. I was in shock for the next couple of blocks. Man some guys just don't love thier babys like I do I guess. Thats the same guy who will bitc__ about swrils in his paint.

Sometimes I wonder how some of you guys sleep at night...he was taking a car through a car wash?!?! OMG, what a fool! I have better things to worry about (especially around X-mas) then what Bazooka Joe does with his ride. Happy Holidays!
The day I picked my 04 up: The owner says i just had the car cleaned "I went thru the car wash" ?!^%$&##Then I wondered how many times before. Never again will it though!!
Merry x-mas to all

When I picked up my '04, I specifically told the salesman not to wash or wax the car; I will take care of that myself.I know when I had my 98 beetle vw and took it in for service, they always washed it; never thought twice ab out it but I do now. Merry Christmas or is it Happy Holiday, whatever.
I guess it's OK if you don't care about what your finish will look like after a few of these. They don't properly wash all the grit off the car before it gets scrubbed with the brushes. It's the equivalent of using 400 grit sandpaper.
What does that have to do with it? Even if you're only going to keep the car for a couple of years, that is all it takes for an automatic wash to damage the paint.
There are only three ways my Corvette gets washed, number one choice is by me in my driveway, but once winter arrives I get it done every Saturday morning by a local detail shop (where they handwash it with supersoft clean mitts, and then dry with only cotton towels and a leaf blower)
I also go to those coin washes in between my detail shop visits to spray off the car when it gets too much salt on it (yes, I do drive it on salty roads here in the winter, it's my daily driver but you'd never guess it when you see how good of a condition it's in)

I am guilty...yes, I have used one of the car washes with the brushes to wash my car.
Sorry if I let any of you guys down, but if I have been on a road trip and my car is covered in dirt and bugs, I am not going to drive a dirty vette, and get this, I don't know someone in Billings, MT or Jefferson City, MO and sometimes, I want to get the car cleaned quickly. The scratches and knicks I have are not from the use of these places. I guess I am a bad person.
I do not run it through those automatic brush things though.
With my family personally owning a carwash up in Calgary, I do see quite a few gorgeous cars pull in through here. The foam brushes are NOT safe to be used on any car, but I would say about 85% of them just come in to use the wax/soap/rinse of the car. Car washes can be ok, just dont touch the brushes if you have a babied car!
