Default clutch fluid options

I burnt my clutch fluid and was wondering if there is better fluid or should I just replace it with the same.

The GM clutch specific fluid has an additive to stop squeeking in the hydraulics. I run the same high performance fluid I run in my brakes and it squeeks a hair.

How'd you "burn" the fluid? It naturally turns black from the rubber boot and the seals in the hydraulics.... the new stuff will start to blacken instantly.

Many people simply suck out the reservoir with a turkey baster often. I have a remote bleed line from whe a new clutch was put in.

Just what I was planning to do when I need to replace the clutch. Did you use 1/4" SS tubing and some type of insulation? Either way can you post specifics???
Hope your holidays are great!!!

If I do a good pull like 1st to 3rd gear at WOT I would have no clutch pedal for a minute. I was told that it was common on these cars and I should change the clutch fluid. I would say the clutch is about toast but maybe im wrong.

I got on mine about 3 times today and the pedal gets soft then super hard. What is the deal?

I dont think my clutch is on the way out, it works everytime.
I have changed the fluid in 3-4 times already. I have been debating on racing brake fluid?

or does gm have a clutch fluid for this thing?
I know I needed for my C4

also wanted to add that I removed the spring as well.

I use the turkey baster meathod often and have never had a problem. Even with all the track days and autocrosses.

I use Valvoline syntech brake fluid and Super blue ATA brake fluids.

I hope this info is helpful.

I got the remote bleeder seteup from Carolina Clutch when I got my new clutch. Make sure you wrap the braided stainless in smoething rubber b/c I didn't and it rubbed through my fuel line necessitating a $450 flat bed bill from a corvette bbq in northern va back to my house... that sucked but I'm lucky the car didnt' go up in flames.

The sticking clutch is the nature of the beast... the hydraulic fluid gets "hung" up in the line and causes the pedal to hold down. There is a restriction in the line that can be drilled out "the drill mod" and that can help, I didn't do it, but may. I'm flush my fluid often and it still gets stickey.

Very common symptom of things to come.

Suggest you do some searching on this board for the terms "pedal woes."

If you plan to track your car, it's recommended you learn to care for your clutch. Clutch pedal woes are aggravated by cooked clutch fluid. You may benefit from getting on a regular program of fluid swaps to keep it clear.

The Syringe for changing clutch fluid in the master cylinder ...I'd suggest changing the fluid every few days until it remains clear and then before and after each time to the track and again every time it start to look cloudy.

I've never had pedal woes in my 2002, because since delivery, I've changed my clutch fluid regularly using ordinary DOT3 Prestone brake fluid and employing the syringe.
