time to get a new one. wheni bought my vette (97) the remotes worked fine for about 1 month. then they did the same thing you are describing. i replaced the batteries, and even tried to have them reprogrammed at chevy. no hope.
to this day i have been using my key to open the doors, over a year now.
gmpartsdirect.com is the cheapest place i have found the remotes so far. i belive they are about $85 shipped. thats cheaper than my employee discount through gm dealership.
I can tap mine in my hand and it will go back working, My new ones and the old ones are the same, work for a month then just quits, but the tap makes it go back working every time. Proably loose contacts with the battery
What kind of transmitter do you have, the passive kind or the non-passive kind?
On of the fobs on our 99 with the passive type transmitter had problems just like yours because a part (motion detector switch) got knocked off of the circuit board.....
I had one do the samething on one of my other cars. I opened it up and reflowed all the components on the PCB board and have never had a problem since.
