when it worked , it would play every burned cd i put into it. but its def. something beyond cd type because i can put a brand new real cd in it and it will do the same thing.
i wish i had the money for a new deck so i could pull the bose out and smash it into a hundred pieces.

When the refection of the pits and landings on the bottom (shiney side) of the CD is not being detected/read a error mesage will appear. The following can cause this problem, electronic breakdown, mechanical failure or dirt. Electronic and mechanical failure usualy reguire a skilled technician. Cleaning can be accomplished with a CD cleaning kit, canned clean compressed air or if you have the unit open a sponge swab with isopropal alcohol applied carefully. To test use a original audio CD that works on other players. Be careful and Good LUCK

I hate to tell you this but this is normal for these stock radios.I had the same problem with the one in my silverado (same stereo).Everything worked fine except when it came down to the cd player. It did the same thing as yours.Cleaned it and worked on and off.Since the truck had warranty I took it to the dealer and they don't fix this, they replace it.Again it worked like it should for the next 2 years. Then it did it again.By then the warranty had expired so I bought one in a junk yard and it worked fine for about 4 months and then did the same thing. Finally gave up and went aftermarket. When I bought my vette it had the same problem so I got another factory stereo and put it in.Needless to say it started to do the same thing. So I can say that I have gone through 5 of these and all with the same problem. There was a recall on these @ one point I was told by the dealer but only for a certain year.
