I just recieved another recall letter from the dealer down the street. I've been throwing them in the trash every time I recieve them. What does everyone else do with ther recall notices?
I have a good relationship with the service manager where I got my Vette from. Since I have the CL bypass, he submitted paper working stating the recall was done so I don't get the letters any more. They can't touch my computer because of the special programing I have for the H/C.
I have been neatly stacking them up in the drawer that I keep other Corvette specific paperwork. I have the CLB for my car, I will not ever have the recall performed. I've seen too many stories of column locks happenning for the first time after a recall was performed. At least until someone proves to me that they have ironed out relay issue. The recall reprogram is useless since it does nothing for the column locking up.
I'm saving mine too. My dealer told me I'd remain on their "recall" mailing list until I took it in for re-programming. I tried to explain I'd already installed a CLB 2 years ago, but that wasn't enough to pull my name from their computer.

It's only useless on the MN6. It has worked just fine on my A4. The CLB was useless on my car (1998) because of the CLB/BCM interface. I kept getting the "Pull key..." message with the CLB installed. If I had an MN6, I'd no doubt have a stack of recall notices as well.

Along that vein, I have finally stopped receiving these notices when I sent back one of the alerting CLB recall post cards back with a note stating that the current dealer fix is inefficient. And, about four months later (no kidding), a GM customer service rep called me for more feedback. In a nanosecond, the young rep clearly realized that I had more information and knowledge regarding the C5 than he, and, proceeded to finally remove me from their CLB recall notice list.

You're right, I should have been more specific. Remember however that what worked on your A4 is the removal of the column lock mechanism. The MN6 recall only flashes the PCM to tell the car to not feed fuel if it senses a column lock at speeds above approximately 2 mph. You're column will still lock.

Agreed. Just making sure some of the pre-2001 A4 guys know the recall is a good thing.

I had the recall done even though I already had a CLB installed. Just took the CLB off, took it to the dealer, then reinstalled the CLB when they were done. Not a problem one from the recall.
