Now i know this may sound ridiculous, but anyone ever reduce the length on their gear selector? I hate the look of mine being so high, and i just saw the C6's shifter for the paddle shifter - looks nice. I'm jumpin in my flame suit right now...
I love the idea of having a shorter auto shifter. I was just thinking the same thing as my dad (Who owns a 6spd 01 Vette) had asked me if I could get a shorter shifter. I thought what a cool idea. But I have never seen it done.
I just spent 3 hours at the GM dealership in Nashville. I got to crawl around 1 Z06, 3 2005 Corvettes, and 10 2006 models in the showroom and cleanup area. I love the 6-speed automatic with the paddle shifters on the 06 model.
Now that that is off my chest... I would like to get rid of the button, and install a manual shift **** that I press down to shift out of park in my C5. Has anyone done this?
I know in the past (my ricer days) we just cut the gear shifter in half on manuals to make a short shift. I'm assuming it's much more complicated on autos?

Yep because there be linkage thingamadoodles in there.
I have an aftermarket **** and that seemed to shorten it by about half of an inch. It also slimmed it down from the that big Frankenstein style factory ****. It would look tight as hell if it were about an inch shorter than that though
