Thank you for hosting your cousins during this down time. Knowing the subject of our concern was less the health of the site than the health of an ailing brother, it is especially appreciated.
Layne Smith - in hosp since Christmas Day - doing better
Geneus posted a prayer thread under Off Topic section.
Thank you all for your support.
Here's an update from his close friend, Mark C:
My wife talked with Layne and Lisa tonight. Layne could barely talk from having the ventilator stuck down his throat for days. Layne is in a regular room. It seems that the hospital didn't want to change the sheets so they put him back in the same room. He continues to improve daily. His address is:
LAYNE SMITH, RM 478
REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER HHA
900 HOSPITAL DRIVE
MADISONVILLE, KY 42431
Whew, I just sent a little something, something and started to panic that it would go to a wrong room but the room number is still the same. Great to hear Layne is doing better.
Here's an update from Don (Geneus here): "I just got off the phone with Lisa. More good news. Layne has been moved out of ICU and into a "regular" room. His new room number is #455. He is getting much stronger, though his voice is still rough and weakened...Lisa said that it will come back soon.
Lisa herself is getting more rest and is finally eating. She said she still has a lot of catching up to do on the eating, but she does feel stronger, and that's good news too. All in all, our prayers for both of these wonderful people have been and continue to be answered.
Don"

Here's an update from Lisa (Zoh6prncss) @ 3:30 PM Jan 5: "Hey guys Layne has done so well today he has sit up in a chair for an hour and he has to do that three times a day and believe me if he could have his laptop up there he would but of course no connection and would interfere with his heart monitor. The doctor said they may get to close him up on Tuesday making sure there is no sign of infection. I am printing the rest of these well wishes off and taking them to the hospital so he can read them; that always lifts his spirits. He also got an email today that will really impress him it was from Scott Rockenfield of Queensryche (he is a friend of a friend) wishing him all the best and a little advice on treatment. Now wasn't that nice. Well i'm off to the hospital again; I will give him hugs and kisses for you guys. (not that there is anything wrong with that)"
