Good idea if it's and auto, bad if it's a stick shift. I have one with my alarm and I love it. In the summer it's get's hot so the A/C will cool the car down before I get to it. No need for it in the winter here, it only get's to a low of 40 degrees. -Ed

Would like to get it but have checked around...lowest I have found installed is $540. Many mods that I want before I spend the money on that.

If your looking for just a remote start, I've seen them installed for around $150.00. I think it was at a local Best Buy store. The alarm with remote start will be around $500.00 installed. -Ed

I have them in 3 cars sadly not my vette but I do have the window valet for her. Anyway the remote start is probably the best after market item I have bought that didn't give me any RWHP . Most I paid was 175 I would look around check a good stereo store

The only reason a shop would charge more to install is because of the VATS, and even then they just have to install a $20 bypass.

I have a m6 and have been thinking of installing a remote/alarm on it.
Its fairly simple to install on a manual car, you can either put a safety switch on the E-brake, or a magnetic switch on the shifter, doing both would be the best.

does the C5 already come with a neutral Safety switch for the 6 speeds ?

I just installed my 4th Bulldog remote starter - but it's in my DD; not the Corvette.

In the past I've always chosen their cheapest models, but this last time I opted for their top of the line model 500 deluxe. It uses a two way remote with LCD screen. Though I didn't connect any of the anti-theft features of the model 500, it can beep-or-vibrate-or-both when the theft alarm activates. The LCD remote will visually show you which opening was wrongfully opened.
Like anything electronic one buys these days - it does 100 more things than needed. I only connected up the remote start and power door lock features.

For the remote start feature, when you request a remote start, the keyfob beeps when the module inside the vehicle has successfully received the command (the keyfob receives a transmitted signal from the in-car module). Then once the in-car module detects a successfully running engine, the keyfob will beep again and you also get a visual clue on the Keyfob that the motor is running.
The display then has a countdown timer showing how many minutes are left in the autostart routine (I have mine set to 10 minutes). And then once the start time has expired, the keyfob beeps again and the display also shows that the engine has been shut off.

The thing will also display the vehicles inside temperature

What's nice is that you don't need to physically see the car to know that all the commands have been received and that the engine truly started.

I bought the model 500 online for $127. By the time I added the VATS bypass module and a "T-Harness" (that makes installation easier) it was $180 shipped. Took about 5 hours to complete the install.

i wouldn't get a remote starter on MY OWN Vette even though i'd really like one. The reason is that i dont trust my e-brake enough to leave the car in neutral. If i had an auto i'd go for it.
