I am thinking of having my 2004 CE Vert dyno'd at Performance Motor Tech Associates in San Dimas, CA. after the 1st of the year. They said that even with a stock exhaust and a K&N Filter in place of the stock air box, I can expect a 40-50 HP increase, since they really dial in the chip and the engine. Has anyone used these guys here in California, and is there a down side to having this done to my car? The guy told me it would not affect the warranty and give me more power and better gas mileage.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks and Happy New Year to everyone on Corvette Forum.
Sounds like thier "dialing in" means they lean the dog crap out of the fuel curve. Lean makes lots of horse power but is VERY dangerous. Might want to call them on their 40-50 hp increase. Tell them that if they get you that much you'll pay for the tune if not it is on them. I'll bet thier claimed numbers will decrease dramatically. Also 287 hp on a stock Vette is about right, remember that is rwhp (rear wheel horse power).
God luck and be very cautious with these guys they may cause you more trouble than it is worth.
287 sounds a little low. Mine came out 305/320 RWHP/RWTQ with only 3:15's, Haltech and Corsa Indys. 40 more with just a tune.... well I just don't know. Good luck anyway and hope you get the most out of your tune
You only got 287 HP with your 2004 Corvette? Hm. Something wrong.
For a stock (bone stock) A4 350hp less 18% (auto transmission drive line loss) brings you right to 287. If the 18% is accurate that is possible. I do question 287 with the Corsa pace and a Blackwing. My '97 MN6 dyno'd at just under 309 with a blackwing and a Corsa touring.
