I was bored today because it is raining so I decided to remove my BSM's. OUCH! What a pain in my thumb. And every other finger I used to get the gooo off. Major blister on my thumb. I aint no wuss but that was rough. I have read all the threads on removal but, it still sucked. They came off pretty easy but the gooo sucks.
Let me know what you think
I know what you mean about the thumb blisters! When I got my C5 in summer 2004, the very next day I had the BSMs removed. A friend of mine with a detail shop offered to do it for me for only $20! It ended up taking four hours though! He got a major blister on his thumb when he did the one side, so I offered to remove the glue on the other side. I too ended up with a thumb blister, it's not easy to remove that glue, especially if the BSMs have been on for a long time (such as the case with my car being a 1998 and not having the BSMs removed for 6 years) But it was worth it, my car looks ten times better without them. And lucky for me the previous owner kept the paint in mint shape so the paint under the BSM was the same shade of black as the rest of the car.
Heat gun BAD! Use a hair dryer. Heat gun will blister paint as well as your thumb. Hair dryer, fishing line, Goof Off and WD-40. By spraying WD-40 on the BSM while using the fishing line kept it from from breaking so fast. I repeat, DO NOT USE A HEAT GUN. Unless you want to paint it.
