How fast in a mile?
I am interested in running the "texas mile" in the fall. This is a standing start one mile run for speed. My question is, does anyone know if a stock C5 will hit top speed in one mile?
This is important because if you run over 175 mph you need 5 point harness and I believe a roll bar.
I don't want to put that stuff in my car. If a stock 03 won't hit that speed in a mile, then I am OK as is.
Anyone ever tried this?

The C6's only get around 152
2003 Vipers only get around 156
Ford GT gets in the 160 area
There was a magazine arical (car and driver I beleave)
It ran all these cars for a mile and thats around were they were. Maybe if were lucky someone will post up a link.
you should be in the 140-150 range.
not that i would condone trying this on public roads, but trust me.
I've hit 204 mph on my Busa form a standing start. But of course you know that, I've use a lot of your part Jay.
Anyway you should be OK with your ZO6, even with headers you should be between 150 to 160 MPH

Chevrolet Corvette C6
Speed at 1 mile: 154.0 mph — 14th
Time to 1 mile: 32.7 sec — 14th
In the real world of everyday driving, the new C6 Corvette, with its small-block 400-bhp aluminum V-8, is an incredibly potent car, especially when fitted with a 6-speed manual gearbox and sport-tuned Z51 suspension. But in this heady cast of luminaries, the Vette has trouble shining. Even so, Millen is impressed:
"It does the mile so simply. It has good traction, and a nice gearbox. We did the run in the Competitive Driving Mode, and it was quite effortless. No drama whatsoever. It's an easy car to launch, and at speed there were absolutely no problems with stability."
In all, a fine performance by Chevrolet's sports car, and in the last 100 ft. of the mile, it pulls 0.05g in 5th gear, meaning it's still accelerating on the way to its top speed of 186 mph. Another statistic of note: The Vette averages 100.1 mph in its mile...not bad when you consider the standing start.
