I recently bought an vararam intake and velocity stack from a vendor on the forum here good vendor it took alittle time to get to my house but thats fine with me. On the other note the product was lame it looked ilike i could make it in my garage at home. Im kinda of pissed but what can i say. let me know what you guys think about vararam's products.
IMO,the vararam is garbage.just helped a friend take it out of his car,due to issues.the theory behind it is good, but the quality of the peice is junk.he threw his in the garbage.he didn't even want to sell it to anyone, that's how disgusted he was with it.
There are many Vararam fans on the forum and a number of flamers as well.
If may look flimsy , be more difficult to install and the foam filter may disappoint ( a cloth replacement is available from K&N and sort of available from Vararam)...but very few challenge the results.
A recent poll showed more actual problems with other intakes and engine water ingestion (hydralock) than with Vararam.

Reason: spelling
When I got mine I actually laughed at what a POS it appeared to be. I modified it where I thought it needed improvement. The results are amazing and it will remain on my car until something better comes along. Of course I race my car and very rarely drive it on the street so my opinion might not be up to snuff with those that use it daily. Bob

I installed the Vararam B2 6 months ago and I have not had any problems at all. As for water I live in Washington State where it rains 75% of the year. If I am in water where it is going in my intake I have more than the Vararam to worry about!
As others have stated, you'll find lovers and haters here, but I'm a big fan. My installation was problem free, and the performance results are amazing for an air intake change. I'm going to check the filter for the first time in a couple thousand miles, so I hope all is clean in the throttle plate area. If not, I'll get the K&N element. Unless you routinely drive thru foot deep water, go for it!
I always find comments by people who have not installed a VaraRam to be most enlightening:
1) I have had one on my Z06 for two years. I have driven through parking lots with 6 inches of standing water. No problem!
2) I have driven at 70 mph in a driving rain on the Interstate. No problem!
3) VaraRam has recently released a new filter that filters as well as the K&N and has lower restriction than their original foam filter. No problem!
4) LittleBoyBlu99 ran an A-B comparison between a VaraRam and a Vortex assembly on his 99 A4 Coupe. The VaraRam was 2.4 mph faster through the traps (122.99 mph versus 120.58 mph). I like that kind of problem!
So I recommend that all of you non-users keep on flaming the VaraRam and I'll keep enjoying mine.
Quality is poor but the results are evident. Had a problem with air getting
around the filter (K&N) so I used silican sealant to stop the leaks. Again the
quality is disappointing but bottom line... it rocks!
Hey guys thanks for repling and telling what you guys thought about it.
Does any have any pics of the green filter that vararam has? cuz when i bought the intake the filter was white and talk to the complany how i bought it from told me there no differance between the two.
I installed the Vararam VR-1B (2 is the newer model) on my 2004 Coupe. Took a friend and me almost 4 hours to install using a 4 position lift at my local Chevy dealer (it was the Vette Club's shop night!). If you have power tools, the time might be shortened but not by much.
The quality of the components were NOT was I expected for the somewhat high price of the system. However, with the amount of room to work under the hood and around the radiator, it seemed logical that the components do not come preassembled. I also did not care for the quality of the filter but ran it for a brief time prior to replacing it with something else (K&N, I think). Some folks also have some issues with the fog light surrounds not matching up properly.
Nevertheless, the engine did perform much better after installation. Aerodynamics and "ram air" theory aside, the Vararam replaced the stock air box which, if you've not seen it, has a surprising SMALL air inlet for such a large filter box. I'd suggest anything that replaces the stock airbox and improves airflow into the engine is a good thing. Do, however, keep the stock airbox in the event that you might need dealer service of any type -- some of the dealers think changing the airbox violates the warranty.
BTW, I traded my 04 A4 coupe for an 02 Z51 MN6 vert and have left the entire drive train stock.
We here at Vararam believe in the quality and performance of our products. All products come with a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you don't like it for any reason we will gladly give you full credit and send a pick up slip to ship the product back to us (our expense). As long as the
vendor on the forum is one of our dealers there is no problem with
returning the unit. You can call us at 866-507-2648 and express
concerns and talk with one of our tech people about any issues.
We have upgraded to a cotton gauze panel filter for the unit and it performs much better than our old filter and is more durable. Bad news is with such high demand for our product and the new filter our filter manufacturers are having their hands full keeping up with demand.
As soon as the filters hit our door we are shipping them out. There are two filters for the B2 unit - a grey colored filter from one supplier and a green colored filter from Green Filter Company. Both work very well.
The grey filter will fit all "old" B2 units and our current units being shipped but the Green filter will only fit the units currently being shipped unless you are willing to "trim" the lower ducts. We will gladly trim the ducts for any customer willing to send their ducts to us and will only charge for shipping and the new filter. Water is not an issue with our units unless you are sitting ankle deep in it in your car!!! Thanks to all supporters and please call us with any concerns or questions. We want you to be happy to have a Vararam on your Corvette!!!!
Well, I for one, am happy with mine..........
So much so,that as much as I LOVE the tigershark front end,I will not get one for having to eliminate my vararam.....and I really do want one
The only real issue I have with my b-1 is there are no clamps for the filter like the later ones,,,,,,,,and it makes it a pia to service the filter
Btw,it is about time you showed up here to defend all the bashing
Welcome aboard
You can say what you want but the numbers do not lie. I had before and after dyno runs and the Vara-ram gained 18hp and 15tq on a mustang-dyno-jet chassis dyno.
