Default GHL Question??????

I thinking of swapping out my TI's for GHL's but don't want to get too loud with the H/C and LT's. Can anyone rank the GHL series quitest to loudest and drone/no drone?

I had Corsa Indy's on it before and it was a little too loud for me after the LT's.

Thanks.

I have GHL Bullets with LT's. I don't find them to be too loud, maybe not loud enough sometimes. There is drone at around 1500 RPM, but with an MN6 I can shift around the 1500 if it gets to annoying.

I can't compare the Bullets to the Magnums, but I believe the Magnums will be somewhat louder with only a 5" muffler compared to the 6" of the Bullets. Hope this helps.

Good Luck

GHLs = no drone

Borlas = Better make sure all of your bolts are torqued to spec and your fillings are in tight too.

drone as in sound in the car???

I would say yes at the lower speeds and high revs - none in 6th gear on the highway.

I have the GHL magnum plus (6" muffler) that has the dual tips and love them. Not too loud but sounds like a classic muscle car.

LG long tubes, no cats and GHL bullets.

Resonance at 1500 in 6th - 70 on the freeway. up or down 100 rpm's and it is gone.

She really barks above 4000rpms

I have the GHL Mag. (5'' cans) and love the way they sound its the old muscle car sound and no drone either but my top stays down when ever possible so there is some wind noise so i dont here the drone if there is any. I dont have LGs are a HC but they are on my list of mods. to do someday.
Here is a pic of what they look like from the rear this is the best shot i have for now.

Thanks.
My GHL Magnums actually became quieter on the inside of the car after getting LTs with no cats. But it is definately louder on the outside I would say the Corsa Indy's would compare in loudness to the GHLs above 3000 RPM but lower than 3000 RPM the GHLs are much deeper. So if you didn't like the Indy's don't get the Magnums.. maybe the Bullets but I have never heard those.

I have the Magnum Plus as well and it is relatively loud. Of course, what's loud to someone may not be loud to another. If you want a softer sound, don't look for a straight-through muffler design.

I had GHLs (Bullets) with my 04 vert -- only mods are intake, LT headers, X-pipe, and the GHLs. From outside the car, they sound bad ***. There is definitely a drone in the 1500 to 2000 range. I keep seeing people claiming that there is no drone, but I'd love to ride in the car to hear that for myself. Serious drone. For the most part, I crank the stereo all of the time so it wasn't much of an issue. Everyone that ever rode with me commented that it was loud.

I recently switched to Corsa Touring. Now I can actually hold a conversation in my car and use the phone with the engine running.

Corsa's or Z06 Ti have no drone whatsoever from my experience. I guess I'm just not willing to put up with any drone.

Funny how some people claim they have No resonance with GHL's.. and many other claim they do... It's very easy for those who say they dont to fool themself into thinking this... its called selective justification. But if GHL's did not have drone or resonance, why would anyone who owned them say they did, and give the reasons why they got rid of them. Exhaust systems tone are a science.,.. the sound they produce is a product of sound wave technology. All manufacturers know exactly what tone they are looking for, and each system delivers the sound that they designed in.. The design or sound does not change from individual system to system.

Sorry, but if you are saying that all of us that say we have no drone are mistaken, then I must heartily disagree. I have ZERO drone and it has nothing to do with selective justification. I've experienced exhaust drone in other cars and know firsthand what it is.

My Magnums are 5" cans as well. I couldn't be more happy with the choice I've made. People love the sound, I love the sound. Check 'em out and you won't be dissapointed.

Kevin, wait until I get me car out of the shop before you buy. Y ou can hear mine.

I dont notice a drone because the top is always down. I have the 6 inch cans. They are a little loud at times, I love the idle sound. Love going through the gears sound, But theres no secret at WOT.

Though I did notice while driving down from NY to VA, just the sound of a loud exhuast for 4 hours really was getting old ( top was up). If driving with cruise control at 80 MPH at 2 grand for 4 hours and the exhaust note starts to get to you, I have that, and I think every loud one will. IF drone is an bouncing around the interior of the car, I cant tell with the top down at 80MPH and at 2 grand.( driving it to the shop saturday, and running the gears not steady RPMS, I love it. My sig has the GHLs at idle. They are the older orginial models. Ive had them for 3 years.
