It depends on if the certifed vehicle is still covered by its original warranty. If it is NOT (as on my '02), all it means is that it meets certain criteria and that it will be covered for 3mo/3000mi and you can return it if you don't like it within three days after purchase. I believe it also means you can still purchase a GMPP warranty for the car (at least I was able to - I bought a 2 yr/24k GMPP) If it IS still under the original warranty, you get some kind of extended warranty with it without having to buy it like I had to. Forgive me if I don't recall all the details, as I bought mine 5 weeks ago. The dealer has a pamphlet that details all the "certified" info and how it pertains to your vehicle - ask him for it.
