Default What a bummer

I was filling my alki injection with some denatured alcohol and some spilled on the garage floor. I went to clean it up and than discovered damage on the driver side rocker. I have owned this car for only 5 weeks and I have only had a chance to drive it three very short times; a total of 15 minutes. I bought this car in Texas (you can check my profile for the details) and had it shipped to me here in Illinois. The car has been lowered 2". I know its my fault that I didn't notice it sooner but what a bummer. The damage can't be seen when you are standing but if you were to get on the ground and look it's very apparent. The bottom line is I need some good advice on a shop who will fix this. Can anyone help? Also I need some advice on tires for the rear. I'm hoping to put on 305/35r18 tires; what could I get that has good grip and traction?

That's a tough break. I'm sure you'll have a competent shop close enough to repair it, though. I do believe that is one of the few bonded pieces on the car that makes it a tough removal job. They'll probably have to fix that one while it's still on the car. I could be wrong, though.

Sorry to see that, get some frame savers so it won't happen again. Even at stock height the C5's sits very low to the ground.

Sorry to see the damage. I think getting that fixed won't break you, but I feel your pain.

DK, don't you worry. Based upon the picture, it would be an easy fix. No need to remove the rocker panel (which is adhered to like nails onto the rail) for such a small blemish. However, it is your choice. Keep in mind that a competent body shop should be more than equipped to properly sand, fill, refinish, and, blend in (paint affected and surrounding areas) the small damaged section like new. Good luck to you.

Good luck with the repair. If you can find a good body shop, they should be able to fix that and blend in the paint to where it will not show. It's a shame that it crosses two body panels.
