I am installing Dan,s kit in rear and where the mat goes under the plastic piece that the speakers are in I can pull it away about 1 inch and you see the edge of the mat but then you see what looks like a tab of the mat that goes under the trim and It will not let go .Dan says he has not seen this. I will probably cut this off but I am curious because it appears the mat would have to be installed before the side trim and I don,t see this happening.
when i did my rear, i just took those speaker grills off in the back to insulate back there too. I remember there being something that held onto a piece of the mat, but i dont remember if it was a tab or not. I would take the speaker grill off, its only one bolt, the seatbelt bolt and not cut anything. Who knows you might need it, or soemthing. Its only an extra 5 min to take apart.
Thanks for all who answered.Today I made one last attempt before performing surgery.I got a flat paint stirrer and slid it between mat and plastic trim all the while pulling while moving the stick. What I thought was just a tab was actually about 5 inches of mat that was in back of plastic speaker grille.NOTE Dan said not necessary to remove these pieces on a Z

Reason I mentioned for removing these panels was becuase when i did mine. I added insulation behind and around the speakers as well. Figured I might as well as long as im this far. Good to know that you didnt have to perform surgery
