You are not going to change anything with different speakers, you would need to change the head unit, If I were you I would contact Gene Culley at Fred Beans ( a forum vendor ) he has the best prices on GM parts... and order another speaker. Let him know you are a forum member.

I've seen replacement speakers going for around $100 or so. It's been a little while since I saw some prices, so that is just a ballpark of what I remember.
I had to replace my drivers door speaker a couple of years ago, I had to buy a regular bose speaker made for my 98 coupe. one for a convertible was not recomended. 99 is diffrent also. The only other option was to replace everything at more expense then I wanted to pay. I think if I remember. the speaker cost me $180.00 and had to be ordered. bose has amps built into the speakers.
