i took the new to me 2004 on a road trip to try it out this past weekend, was fun. and lots of new things to use and get use too... drives very different from the 96,,, more room,,, and seems to have more power and better gas mileage... also..... but the remote for the 12 cd thing, is missing,,, does any one know where i can find one,, at some part shop, i bet new from the chevy dealer will be alot... i tried ebay but no luck,, and one other thing i did notice was the boot around the gear shift ****... is not leather... the 96 is real leather,, and this one is not,,, i am a bit disappointed about this,,, i know is a small thing,, but u know a car that nice, u would think they would put real leather,, it looks like it,, but i have bought too many purses and etc.. not to know it is some type of leather looking vinyl...... plastic..,, has any one else found some things that did not quiet measure up....???? or am i being too picky,,,,????

I agree GM should have used leather. I plan to change mine along with the brake by with ones from Vette Essentials. They are forum vendors and they are, from what I hear, the best. As far as the CD changer, I don't have one, so can't help you with that one. I have read here on the forum that others have made this mod. Keep searching and I think you will find some help.

I've got a '04 with 12-cd package and I didn't get a "remote" for it. Bought the car new so am fairly sure that I'd have gotten one if it existed. Unless you have an additional package that I unaware, that's my .02 cents..

The cd changer (if factory) will not have a remote control. the controls are on the radio.
aux-turns it on
preset #1 - search back one track
preset #2 - next disc
preset #3 - search forward one track
preset #4 - Hold To scan backwards
preset #5 -
preset #6 - hold to scan forward
fm/am - to go pack to radio
at least I think thats all right!

When I think about how much car I got, for the money I spent and then think about how large of a jump in price to get the little extra things... it just not worth it.

As far as I am aware the shift boot is leather. Itf it is not, it is a good enough representation for me - not going to persuade me to be dissatisfied with a car becuse of something like that.
The car is an evolution from the C4 and has many of the issues addressed that were complaints in that era, just as many of the little things that people complain about in the C5's are addressed in the C6.

I think the boot changed from all leather to whatever it is in the '04 around '02. My '98 O.E.M. was leather and I'm not using it anymore. I have a nice VE. So, if it is a real issue for you - I'll be happy to send my old one to you. I didn't notice if you have a six-speed or an auto....mine is for a six speed. Oh yeah - it doesn't come with the plastic sleeve, I had to use that on my VE boot.
