Default Motorcycle/Corvette Accident

Does not clarify it was a C5, but it is, just saw the black C5 on the news. Link of story below:

If this is not accceptable in this forum lock it, just a reminder to leave the racing on the Strip....

Hi Black94Camaro -

That sucks -

The C5 driver only lived a few blocks from there.

Looks like there is a huge open field on the east side of Arizona there (by elliot).

They were probably going quite a clip.

You have to be safe - it is just not optional.

best regards -

It shows how things can change in a blink of an eye, for both drivers. Even though the Vette driver didn't die, his life just ended.

It is a shame. A loss of a life is always tragic but to charge the Vette driver is stupidity at its highest level. Both were legal adults. The Vette driver did not force the motorcycle driver to race. As an adult we make decisions and we have to live by them. The Vette driver could just have easily wrecked and died. I could see charging the Vette driver with wreckless driving or something like that but manslaughter is stupid. It shows the mentality of the justice system now.

Leave it at the track:

Motorcyclist dies in drag race with Corvette

Lindsey Collom
The Arizona Republic
Jan. 10, 2006 08:09 PM

A motorcyclist was killed Tuesday in Chandler during a drag race with the driver of a Corvette later arrested on suspicion of manslaughter, authorities said.

Police said the motorcyclist and driver of the Corvette were speeding south on Arizona Avenue near Elliot Road about 3:30 p.m., the motorcycle making headway. Police said it sprinted ahead of the Corvette and struck a vehicle that was turning left onto Palomino Drive.

The motorcyclist caught fire in the collision and was flown to an unknown hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Detective Livi Kacic said. An autopsy will determine if the fire, collision or both caused his death, she added. advertisement

Police on Tuesday night were still trying to determine the motorcyclist's identity.

Chandler police arrested the driver of the Corvette, 36-year-old Norman Smith of Gilbert, when he returned to the scene of the accident. He was booked into a Maricopa County jail on suspicion of manslaughter and endangerment.

Drive on the road - race on the track. Otherwise, you are just as stupid as the Corvette driver and the motorcycle rider.

Very sad to hear

The worst part is that this will change us only for a few days, at most a few weeks. People forget and go back to the way they used to drive and thats how accidents happen. Im guilty of it. I hear somethign like this and it calms my driving down. Then every now and then I catch myself doing somethign stupid. And it only takes one stupid moment. Drive safe everyone
