A friend has a 97 corvette with a check engine light that comes and goes. The code was checked and came up with lean mixture (cannot remember what the code number was). He is running premium gas, and the oxygen sensors were ok. The next test is to check if there is a vacuum leak somewhere. What is the best way to do this? Are there any other problem to look out for?
I recently had the same problem on my 97 Chevy pickup. A good friend who is also a GM tech correctly diagnosed the culprit to be a restricted fuel filter. The engine leans out momentarily and throws this code. Changed fuel filter, erased fault code and no more problem.
No guarantee but this is a cheap place to start....Good Luck
