Default Headlight Manual Raising Question

I'm curious about how those ***** are supposed to work. Mine just turn and nothing happens. Am I supposed to do something special? Like turn them exactly 648,531 revolutions one way or another?

Also, are these actually an adjuster for tension or something? Or, is their only function to manually raise the lights?

I saw them raised up at a car show once, the owner just turned them towards the engine until they came up.......and yes he turned them many times.

Not trying to be rude but did you take the covers off.
they do no adjustment they just make it so you can raise lights up and down. It takes about 20 turns to get them up.

Keep turning them, the gear inside only rotates a total of 90 degrees. It takes several revolutions to raise the lights.

No wonder! I didn't turn them that many times, thinking I was doing something wrong.

And, NOT-MEE, I did remove the little boots.

BTW, did you ever find the hood light harness ends?

Thanks
