Default c5 ownership

i hope to talk my owner into getting a vette in the spring.i had wanted a c4 but have read several posts that stated the c5 is superior to c4 for lets say 'running errands'.i had posted earlier on c4 about reliability which from reading posts is not good.today i read post about 'c5 repairs costing over $500' and it did not sound good.granted a lot of posts are from people with problems and those with no problems don't post daily that their cars ran fine today so what i am reading is skewed toward cars with problems. my wife had 4 toyotas and now has 2 acuras and my son has a honda other than oil, batteries, tires, and antifreeze they were maintainence free.while the c4 looks much better i really think i'd like to get a c5 in the spring,an automatic coupe for around $22000,would i be disappointed?would really like to trade the 99 acura 3.0cl on vette.best car i've ever driven [14,000 miles] love the car but still want vette,i am addicted,oh well. sorry to ramble.thanks for your time. bc

Reliability wise, a foreign made car will out last a american made car in my opinion.

Corvettes are a blast to drive but like any other american made car I've owned, they'll need the odd repairs. If you got the money to drop into one, I say GO FOR IT. You'll love it!

For 22k, you could get a nice 98, 99, or a higher mileage 00 for that price. You'll have to shop around, though. People are usually proud of their Vettes.

I was wondering about the whole owner thing as well. And IMO the C5s look way better than the C4s, again just my opinion.

The C5's reliability is superior to that of the C4. The C5's are easy to work on if something were to go wrong. I'm at 128,000 miles. I've had some common failures. Alternator, Starter, A/C compressor, Waterpump <just a seal> The alternator and Starter I probably damaged myself. So honestly the only two true failures i feel i've had were the A/C comrpessor and a 2 dollar seal in the waterpump. I have broken a few other parts racing my car, but that's my own damn fault.

If going with an Automatic, go ahead and let the dealership do the recall of the collum lock, and you'll never have problems with that.

Yes i'm sitting here talking about the bad things, collum lock, A/C compressor ect...But what i haven't mentioned is all the cruises and all the miles of smiles. My 128,000 miles were not easy miles, but the motor is cared for. I've gone to Kentucky two years in a row, we do "Stuz Cruz's" here in Orlando that are very hard driven miles all over central florida. My first week owning my car I drove to Atlanta. A month ago, i drove around the State of florida for a number of things, Miami, Tampa, and Jacksonville all in one week. This car is WAY easier to get in and out of than a C4, not to mention cruising is so comfy.

Do i need to say anymore?

Chris
