Can anyone explain exactly what active handling is. I know there is a difference from traction control. I just am confused about what the difference is.
basically active handling is working while you are at speeds. It understands if the car is losing traction and brakes certain wheels. Traction control is from a standing start. Helps keep the wheels from spinning.
Acting handling is a set of algorithms programmed into the cars computer that compare the direction of movement of the car to the direction of the steering wheel. When the sensors pick up a directional movement that the computer (using the algorithms) determines is differrent than the intended direction, it cuts power to the wheels and applies antilock braking to the appropriate wheels in an attempt to correct the deviation in movement from the intended direction.
It has limits to its capabilities and you can overdrive the active handling system.
The 2002 Owner's Video had a segment by Dave Hill on active handling. If you do not have the Video, you can see that part dealing with active handling on the media section of Z06vette.com. The file is 02_2_hi.wav.
