I think it would be a great idea for members of the Corvette Forum to pledge to give at least one military member a ride in Amerca's #1 Sports Car. After a tour in a war zone helping to protect our freedom, I'm sure most would LOVE to have the opportunity to experience the sound, smell and overall thrill of riding in a Vette.
I think it would be a good idea but I am sure they have about 1,000,000 things already planned! Sign me up. They are over there protecting us so I can have the enjoyment of driving my Vette. I will give them a ride anytime!

They are my modern day heros, 24 hour job so we can stay free
Does anyone have any ideas how to go about doing this? I'm sure we could contact local military bases, Reserve units, etc. to get the word out and make contact with interested military folks.
Anyone that does this should take a photo of their Vette with one of our military members and post it on the forum for all to enjoy.
I think it's a great idea. Anything to support our military during a time of war. My son in law is currently serving his second tour of duty in Iraq, he's welcome to drive my vette anytime. Since we are a forum, it seems obvious that many of us enjoy the internet. You can identify military personel from your own home town right on line. The web site is on my work machine, sorry I don't have it. Will post tomorrow. It can be located through a local recruiting office. I send E-mail to Marines from my home town monthly. Just a note to say hello and Thanks!
cant believe u posted this --i just told my wife this morning i was going to bring this very thing up at our next club meeting .on top of that some of the guys in our club work at the airport ,and i think it would be really neat to pick them up at the terminal but i know that would probably be a problem for them ....sounded good anyway ....
During this years fredom festival parade in Evansville, In I had the opportunity to drive one of the pilots that was in the air show. This was arranged by my corvette club. Our club had 35 corvettes to haul pilots and ground crew through the parade. My pilots call sign was Ice and he flew an F-16 Falcon. It was a great weekend to be a vette owner. It was cool to be in the stageing area for the parade and hear everyone talking about vettes and jets.
From: Mississauga, Ontario Corvettes were built to be driven...not trailered

I'm sure one of the guys on this thread could steer you in the right direction...great idea by the way
At last year's Armed Forces Day Parade our club had the honor of driving in the parade with members of the local National Guard unit which had just returned from a year in Iraq. Some of the guys were moved to tears by the response they received.
Personal comment: It was great to see many Viet Nam Vets in the crowd welcoming their brothers home - something they did not receive.
