Default Experienced the C5

Over this past Christmas break I came home from college and test drove a 2000 red C5 Corvette at a Chevrolet dealership. I was (and I say was) looking at Lexus, Acura, Infiniti, etc. for my next car. I've currently got a 96 Nissan Maxima. I've always liked Vettes so I decided to stop by the dealer and look at a 2000 they had for sale. First of all, just sitting in it was amazing compared to any other vehicle I've been in, but the drive was even better. I've never driven a car that has handled so well and gotten so many looks. Just test driving it people were turning their heads to look at it. I guess what I'm trying to say is that my mind is made up as far as my next vehicle is concerned. While I don't currently have a Vette, I plan on spending as much time as I can here learning about them to help me find my dream car when the time comes.

Welcome and CONGRATS on your decision! It is more than a car, it is a way of life!

The same thing happened to me about 4 years ago. I told my wife that day what she was in for. It took almost 2 years, but what fun it's been since.

Welcome to the forum. You certainly can learn a lot of things about C5's here - and hope you can get into one soon.

I'm feeling an odd sense of deja vu. Didn't I post something amazingly similar on this very forum not too long ago? As in, just about two or three weeks ago?

Hey man, welcome to the BORG!!! Once you test drive a C5, that's IT, baby. Nothing else will do.

Passion, The Open Road, Route 66, Horsepower, and Fibreglass

screw the rest

we are fortunate to be custodians of vehicles from another plain.

get your goals fixed, and shoehorne life if it must be, but GET THAT CORVETTE

.... and screw regret

(disclaimer:  , no one is saying buy a 74,000 Z06 on a graduate salary - but if skipping a beer-thursdays and all your lattes is the difference between the Lexus and the Corvette -.....)

Take it from another former Maxima owner (1991 & 2003) - the C5 is the best car I've ever owned, absolutely no comparison. Good luck with your search!

I have driven a few C5's just don't have the $ to put money down to get one yet.

Lots of information on here to educate you before you make your purchase.

After you get it, it will educate you on how to dump a ton of money into your car for mods.

Before I bought mine I spent a few months or so lurking as a non-member on the forum, then joined so I could be interactive. I learned a lot about the various years features and problems, basically got a good education about what to look for in a used car. Finally found the right one and had permagrins for the past 14 months of C5 Corvette ownership.

Welcome and good luck finding the C5 of your dreams! The day you find the right one you will resemble this >>

Cheers!
