Was there anything added to a 03 that might make the stereo sound a little better in a 03 than a 02? the reason i ask is my best friend has a 03 coupe and i have a 02, and his stereo sounds so much more better than mine, harder crisper bass, and highs. I pulled my door panels and rear panels off and the stock bose speakers are still in there, i did notice one thing tho, in the left rear comartment he has something that looks like a amp, or is that for the selective ride that mine doesn't have.
sorry for such a newbie question, as i put more and more in this car, i'm finding more and more thats Not right about it, and its getting a little frustrating.
Your friend probably has upgraded his Bose with aftermarket speakers and an amp. There shouldn't be anything in the left compartment but air. If you have a factory CD changer it is in the center compartment.
I don't recall GM changing the radio or speakers but that doesn't mean they didn't.

its stock with 2400 miles, he bought it and lets it sit so i know its not aftermarket speakers the car has only had one oil change which he was too afraid to do himself, and i'm usually the one that installs all of his stuff for him

My 02 Bose sounds good. Maybe its the auto tone setting he is using or that he has the manual bass tone control cranked to the right.

I have an 03 and their is a button you can push to get different sounds like when you have jazz on or rock and so on look in his manual or just turn the 03 on and the radio and look for the button.

I found out using the Auto Tone gives me the best results. For me the Jazz setting works well for just about all types of music. Everyone has their own personal preference so play around with it until you find a setting you like. You can set the Auto Tone by preset station, so if you have a talk radio station you can set it for that, etc. Also, once you turn the volume past 3/4 you start to loose fidelity.
nevermind i just found the problem...pop went door speaker one!
i think i'm just going to get rid of all this crap in here,i didn't want to have to, but from doing a little research these speakers dont hold up well in loud situations. But now this means i can make some custom pods in the dash for my boost gauge so people wont see it
I have a 99 and dont think it sounds that bad....depending on the song, some sound really good. I was an audiophile as a younger man with the incredible stereo worth more than the car and dont think its that bad. I would like to play MP3s though.....
I just discovered today, 03 Corvette Special Edition, it also has a FACTORY amp installed in the left trunk compartment.
NOw, what am I suppose to do? I want to put in a IPOD, but I have no trunk cable for tha IPOD. I dont see any two AUX inputs by the fuse box everyone talks about.
If I have to go behind the radio, hell I might as well replalce the radio. That is my dilemma. If I have to pull the radio I will replace it. But I dont want to go through all that hassle.
I know that there are service bulletins for repairing BOSE speaker rattles and the fix processes differ between C5 years. Should be able to look this up on corvetteactioncenter.com's tech center.
Recently I replaced my battery with an Optima Red Top - turns out my battery was dying - the difference in the BOSE system is night and day compared to the stock (dying) battery.
Try either of those - your BOSE should sound better.

Can I do anything witht he AMP??
Who told you it is a 03 Special Edition? There was a 50th Anniversary Edition available in Anniversary Red Metallic with Shale interior only and special side badges.
It also came standard with the Magnetic Ride Suspension which has an "amp" of sorts located in the back to control the suspension.
I have never heard of an amp for the stereo, from the factory, located back there. Could be an aftermarket amp someone installed. Have any pictures of the amp?

Bose is just bad in general...it is the worst thing about corvettes...the over hyped name that just sounds terrible...
What are you talking about? My 98 Bose is great, especially the cheap Bose emblems on the front speakers that keep rattling . Bose gives us tamborines with our music for no extra charge!
