Default Problems with '97's??

Hey guys,
Do any of you know if there are any known problems with the '97 Vettes? I never really wanted to buy a '97, but I found a well-taken care of one for a good price. I just wondered if they have had any known problems because of the first year? Let me know.

Thanks in advance

JV

I don't know of any problems. I just bought a 97 and I was a little skeptical because it was the first year of a run but I love it. It runs like a top and I don't regret the purchase at all.

Someone else asked a similar question a couple of weeks ago. Here are the responses:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...1&forum_id=103

I have a 97 and have no major problems. Anything that has been a problem (all were minor) was easily fixed by me.

No problems at all. except recall on seat belt thingy, but then again every GM car I owned had this recall.

Also it`s a low production year, (9,752) not since 1959 have they produced fewer cars. Maybe someday it will be worth something .

Not to sound like a jerk, but, I haven't had any of the problems I have seen much newer cars have. The only problem I have now is keeping my foot out of it since I modded the engine and t/c.

I have never had any problems with it at all.

Yeah I have MAJOR problems with my '97....NO TRACTION.

Seriously though, I've had my '97 for almost 7 years and never had any problems with it.......at least none that i didn't create myself.

Get a '97 and spend the $$ you saved on mods.

No real problems other than those common to the C5 - leaky differential seals, column locks, etc. If the car checks out, and its a good buy, then nothing wrong with getting a '97.

Glad someone else is up on the production number. I had a POST up requesting members with a '97 put their's on the list with the last four VIN numbers to see how many of the 9,752 Corvettes are here on the forum..
