Do you guys constantly remove & replace the partition just to be able to use the rear view mirror ??
I want to buy one but don't want to always be taking it oof and putting it back. Any help with your experiences is appreciated, thanks.
A partition (at least mine and all the ones I've seen) doesn't block the rearward view at all - maybe you're thinking it blocks the rear window?

Ya, i'm thinking that I won't be able to see through the back window. How does it all work?? Doesn't it completely seal the area behind the seats, thus blocking the entire view through the back glass??

The partitions I have seen do not block the back window view at all. But they do seal off the rear trunk area. I sometimes place dogs, books, magazines, DVDs immediately behind me when I drive. The partition ensures they stay within arm's reach when I stop. Bags of groceries, etc. are place in the trunk area using the hatch. They may roll around, but do not come forward if I brake.
After first getting my Z it was so noisy I thought the hatch was open. At that time the nicer partitions were running $200 and upwards so I made one using sound board. It is the best mod I installed and keeps the worst of the noise out. I also replaced the Bose system and added a subwoofer and changer, so the partition allows me to enjoy the music. The partition does seal off the rear so in the summer there is less space to cool. And the sound board is light weight. A vendor was having a major sale which I thought was an excellent deal if it is still on.
To answer a question I never take the partition out. There may be times when hauling suitcases to an airport or packages that freeing the space would be desirable, but I have not encountered them yet.

Here's our's shown with the optional VetteTray cargo organizer
Our Partitions are on sale through tomorrow for $120.00 shipped
It really is a "must have" for Z06/FRC's - it does reduce the cabin noise a pretty good bit, and having a sealed trunk area means you can fill up to the top without being worried about being killed by a flying can of peanut butter or something
Mine does popin and out really easily if you do need to stow something that's longer than the "trunk" area. Pretty simple, a couple of snaps and it's out.
I thought maybe you were Canadian and were saying 'oof' like 'aboot'
Jim's partition and tray combo (above) looks pretty slick too -
I also bought Jim's combo, and like it a lot. Makes it fell like a cockpit, and the cup holders are a plus for when the wife wants me to pick something up.
Wow, thanks guys, for some reason I thought that the partition goes right behind the seats and comletely seals it from top to bottom, but after seeing the picture it helped clear things up.
Thanks for your posts and God bless you all.

One of the first mods I did to my Z06 was to buy a partition. I got mine from Ecklers for $99. It is 3 inches of foam with carpet on the interior side and a nice Z06 logo. There are much fancier ones out there, like the one that SouthernCarparts makes, but mine does the trick for me. It does a great job of blocking noise and keeping items from sliding back and forth between the rear hatch area. Makes the car seem like it has a seperate trunk, which I like.
As others have said...the partitions do not block the rear view at all. I rarely if ever remove mine...and if I do it is only to make something fit in the car that is oversized or something...otherwise it stays put all the time and works just great.

Sorry about that...I went back and corrected my typo. If they lose any car parts sales to a carpet company due to my typo, I will do my best to remunerate them!
This was one of my first mods as well to my Z and I bought the rear compartment covers and partition all from Andy ... carpet match is perfect which was important to me as I wanted it to look OEM and not like an afterthought. I also wanted to make sure my golf clubs did not come through and kill me As others mentioned better stereo sound and cooler/warmer cabin.

You can also make your own. There is a template pdf floating around on the forum somewhere. OfficeMax can print it out actual size for about $6.00. You can purchase MDF at Home Depot. I made mine out of MDF, 3/4" foam padding and Upholstery grade black Leather Cowhide. The largest expense was having the local Upholstery shop stitch it together. I ended up with a high quality Leather partition that cost less $120.00 and looks stock.
Yes,
You can build your own. But if you want one, we have them on sale now for just $110.00. All CNC cut panels, not the out of the garage hand cut, kinda fits type.
